Our
Platinum Level Sponsors
We have recently opened our 2011 sponsorship drive and
welcome all who wish to provide direct support for this event by
becoming a Native Rhythms Festival
sponsor. We offer a four level sponsorship program that puts Native
Rhythms Festival sponsorship within the reach of most
budgets. Those who participate at the highest level, our
Platinum Sponsors, will be prominently featured here on our
event home page. Find all of our 2011 sponsors
listed on our Sponsors Page.
We are grateful to all of the organizations and individuals whose
support makes this event possible, but we
give a special recognition here on our homepage to our Platinum Level Sponsors:

Headline Performers
Festival weekend will feature a continuous flow of
top flight entertainment coming from the amphitheater stage. We
are proud to present our program of "headline" performers. As in the past, our
"headline" performers include GRAMMY, NAMMY (Native
American Music Award), and IZZY (Indian Summer Music Award)
winners. They are supported by outstanding "featured"
performers to fill out our on-stage program.
Find photos, CD offerings, and
performer biographic information for all of our performers on our Performers Page.

NAPT To
benefit from Native Rhythms Festival
The
Organizing Committee of the Native
Rhythms Festival has selected Native American
Public Telecommunications (NAPT) as our chosen charity to be supported
by a share of the proceeds from this year's festival. Click
here to view a video produced by NAPT that introduces
their programs and activities, and expresses their appreciation
to the Native
Rhythms Festival for our support.
NAPT is a wonderful organization that promotes the development
of American Indians and Native Alaskans in the media, both
television and radio. It exists to serve Native producers in
partnership with public television and radio. NAPT supports
training to increase the number of American Indians and Alaska
Natives producing quality public broadcasting programs, which
includes advocacy efforts promoting increased control and use of
information technologies and policies to support this control by
American Indians and Alaska Natives.
The Organizing Committee sees the objectives of NAPT as being
in harmony with our goals for the Native Rhythms Festival and
will support them in both a tangible and an advocacy role. For
more information about NAPT and our support, visit our NAPT
page.

One of
Our Own Facing Health Challenges
We have received the sad news that our good friend and
2009/2010 Native
Rhythms Festival flute maker/vendor Leonard
McGann (Lone Crow Flutes) has been diagnosed with
prostate cancer that has metastasized to his lymph nodes and
bones. Several efforts are underway to help Leonard financially.
Please consider assisting any way you can.
| Randy & Shelly Stenzel (Feather
Ridge Flutes, also a 2010 Native
Rhythms vendor) are conducting an on-going
auction of flutes and other arts & crafts items donated by
our many caring friends. Click
here to access the page on the Feather Ridge website
that has been set up for this auction to see what is currently
available for bids. Bids will be accepted on each item
for only two weeks. Check back often as new items are
continually being added. |
| Native
Rhythms 2011 headline performer Scott August
recalls performing at an event in Phoenix in 2005 at which
Leonard was a vendor. Scott purchased a flute from Leonard there,
which he says he has enjoyed ever since. The photo to the right
shows Leonard with Scott and his flute.
Scott has now recorded a
song he calls the Lone Crow Song on that flute and
offers it for download as an MP3 for $1.99. All proceeds from
the sale of this song will be donated directly to Leonard. Click
here to hear a sample of this song and purchase
the download. |

| Or you can send cards or other donations directly to:

We will miss Leonard at this year's Native
Rhythms Festival. We ask that you keep Leonard
and Kitty in your prayers.

2010 Native Rhythms Festival
CD Now Available
If you were with us last
November for the second annual Native
Rhythms Festival, our CD "Live from
the 2010 Native Rhythms Festival" will be full
of memories of the performances you shared in. If you
missed our festival last year, here's your opportunity
to enjoy the spirit of our performers from the stage.
This CD is just a couple minutes short of a full hour
and captures some of the best performances as they occurred.
We are honored that the performers who appear on this
CD have allowed us to use their performances for this
project. All money in excess of the production costs for
this CD will be reinvested in this year's festival. So
your donation of $15.00 for your personal copy of this
CD will not only give you this piece of Native
Rhythms Festival history, but will also help
us continue to present the best of Native American Flute
music free to the public.
One of the unique features of this collection is some
of the unusual sounds we were able to capture. Jon
Norris was a vendor hit with his electrified cigar box
banjos, and appears on the CD backing up Michael Graham
Allen (Coyote Oldman) in an improvised duet. Everyone
also enjoyed Peter Levitov's didgeridoo, and we were
happy to capture the duet of Peter's didge with flute
playing competition winner Jonathan C. Ward. Mike
Knight's "thunder tubes" have been extended to
provide two octaves of pentatonic minor range and are
featured on the final "open mike" track. You
won't find these unique performances on any other CD.
Add those pieces to the other outstanding performances
and you have a CD that will stand alone in your
collection.
Check our "merchandise
page" for ordering information.

Thanks mostly to the talent and hard work of our
"soundguy" Bruce Iwinski (Creative Sound
Recording), this CD is of a professional quality
you will be proud to add to your music collection. The
idea to create a CD of live performances was hatched
just a few weeks before the event. Bruce did an
outstanding job of responding to our last minute
"hair-brained scheme" and first captured the
live performances and then mastered the CD itself.
This year, we are going into the 2011 Native
Rhythms Festival planning from the start to
do live performances CD this year. So watch for it.
